Cllr Edward Stephen Giles Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport Isle of Wight Council Dear Cllr Giles, I have viewed the Tranzwight project and believe the project worthy of consideration for inclusion within the Island Transport Plan and the Islands statutory Local Transport Plan. The project cannot be likened to any other tramway scheme currently in operation in the UK. It would cost only about half that of a conventional tramway for this suburban application using the Translohr vehicle. I believe that the Tranzwight project, when integrated with other modes of transport such as buses, minibuses, taxis, Park & Ride facilities, cycle parks etc. would vastly improve travel on the Island and would reduce traffic congestion, pollution and accidents. Translohr can deliver improvements to the Island's economic competitiveness. It provides a high-quality consistent and sustainable service encouraging Island businesses to operate more confidently and effectively. It would also greatly enhance visitor potential and quality of life on the Isle of Wight.
